The VANZEIT ® Difference?
We think different.
Instead of average, with us, you get creative, practical, and durable setups from original ideas.
Our own camping experience is reflected in the attention to detail – and you’ll feel it in every use.
Trust in expertise for your relaxed VANZEIT ®!
🕐 New Product Ideas
A missing coat hook in our first California led to my invention of the well-known hooks for the pop-up roof, our ABHÄNG.
Why drill into your bus? From my incomprehension of this and the limited headroom under the market roof cabinets, our EINFACH was born.
Every idea matures between my own ears, from actual need and missing solutions.
🕑 Thoughtful Product Design
Initial sketches turn into prototypes made of cardboard.
Once I'm convinced, I construct it using CAD, based on the already specific dimensions.
The design is then implemented and tested with 3D printing, on the sewing machine, or in the workshop.
In the refinement process, I remove unnecessary parts from the design.
🕒Tested in Camping Life
Nicole and I take new accessories on tour directly with our bumblebee (aka T6 California Beach).
Is a contour not perfect, or is a feature not used while camping?
If so, it gets adjusted and tested again. And possibly again...
Only what convinces us over a season and proves its value gets produced.
🕓 Made in Northern Germany
We found our production partners within a few kilometers of us.
This guarantees short distances and quick, personal agreements by handshake.
Small series' production ensures fast adjustments, even with your suggestions.
🕔 Ensures More Freedom
Focusing on the essentials gives you more space.
Less ballast means less fuel consumption. You go further.
Simple designs integrate timelessly into your individual setup.
Organization with a system relaxes. Stuffing was yesterday, today you can safely stow your equipment - and find it again tomorrow.
Finally, a comfortable entry and exit with a built bed in the short wheelbase of the VW Bus.
With our lightweight camper modules, you can convert your van, high-roof van, or Bulli from a daily driver to a camper.
The conversion from daily driver to urban camper is super easy and can be done in just a few minutes. Whether it's a quick weekend getaway or a long vacation tour, you're ready to go.
The DIY system offers you:
- Sleeping space for two;
- plenty of freedom of movement, so you can easily access all your equipment;
- at least 520 liters of storage space;
- a kitchen unit for indoors, sliding door, and rear;
- unobstructed views outside.
The scalable system modules are prepared for:
- 30-liter cooler (in the "Cooler and Bed Extension" combo module) or larger;
- Dry composting toilet (in the "Water" module), e.g., Boxio.
Like all VANRAILs, the open profile grooves allow you to creatively design and customize your camper to your liking.

The VANRAIL (short VR) Camper Modules for DIY
VR System Base Driver Side
The DIY module holds two Euroboxes with 60 x 40 cm base dimensions on top. Below, boxes measuring 40 x 30 cm can fit, with up to four side by side. The height underneath is 190 mm.
VR System Base Passenger Side
On top of the module, three Euroboxes with 40 x 30 cm base dimensions fit. Below, for example, boxes measuring 30 x 20 x 17 cm can fit. You can store six of these and still have space behind for items like tarp poles.
VR Camper Multiboard Kitchen Module
Our multiboard is removable. You can use it as a table or cooking surface at the rear.
It can also be used as a bench, or hung as a spacious hanging table...
When placed between the two base camper modules, it becomes 2/3 of the bed support.
VR Camper Water and Composting Toilet Module
This module from the VANRAIL DIY system fits two 15-liter canisters, providing a total of 30 liters of fresh water.
Below, you can place a dry composting toilet - e.g., BOXIO. With the optional removable top, the toilet can stay right there.
VR Camper Combo Module Cooler + Bed Extension
Your cooler fits behind the foldable front of the combo module.
The front can be raised 90 degrees and fixed opposite the "Water" module.
This creates a continuous sleeping surface.

VR Camper Module FAQ
Does the VANRAIL DIY system also fit other vehicles?
Yes, our build is designed to be scalable. For example, the module system shown here fits layouts starting from ~1.2 x 2 meters and can be adjusted in 10 cm increments.
Will there be electric extensions for additional battery capacity or solar?
We currently have no plans to offer electric system modules ourselves. However, we are happy to help you find suitable power stations, solar panels, etc., for your needs.
How long does installation and removal take?
The very first installation may take about half an hour. After that, arranging the (in our case 19) containers and the cooler takes the longest, about 10 minutes. The VANRAIL camper system modules can be installed or removed in 5 to 10 minutes.
How is the cooler secured in the module?
In the DIY version, you decide. This could be a lashing strap or the manufacturer's own brackets. We replace the cooler's plastic feet with our own, which fit securely into the wooden floor mounts of this DIY module.
How are the Euroboxes secured in the VANRAIL camper system?
The stackable boxes are generally held in place by their own weight and a 12-millimeter rim, which is enclosed by the VANRAILs. We haven’t lost a box even on ferries or rough roads ;) For additional security and permanent hold, we offer screw-on clamps for the VANRAILs.
Can the DIY modules be installed in reverse?
Yes, the modules can be installed in reverse, e.g., for right-hand drive vehicles. Other combinations are also possible. You can customize your van with the VANRAIL camper modules however you like.
