🕐 New Product Ideas
A missing coat hook in our first California led to my invention of the well-known hooks for the pop-up roof, our ABHÄNG.
Why drill into your bus? From my incomprehension of this and the limited headroom under the market roof cabinets, our EINFACH was born.
Every idea matures between my own ears, from actual need and missing solutions.
🕑 Thoughtful Product Design
Initial sketches turn into prototypes made of cardboard.
Once I'm convinced, I construct it using CAD, based on the already specific dimensions.
The design is then implemented and tested with 3D printing, on the sewing machine, or in the workshop.
In the refinement process, I remove unnecessary parts from the design.

Nicole and I take new accessories on tour directly with our bumblebee (aka T6 California Beach).
Is a contour not perfect, or is a feature not used while camping?
If so, it gets adjusted and tested again. And possibly again...
Only what convinces us over a season and proves its value gets produced.

Tucks it away and does so directly at the step under the three-person as well as under the two-person sleeping bench in the VW California and Mercedes Marco Polo.
Perfect as shoe shelf - from small children's shoes to full-grown adult hiking boots!
Sliding door on the left? Fits. Sliding door right? Fits.
Of course, the side shelf fits in the VW T5 as well as in the T6 and T6.1, in the Transporter as well as in the Caravelle and in the Multivan.
The base fits for the right AND the left sliding door (e.g. in the California Beach Tour, Volkswagen Transporter and VW Multivan with second sliding door *), right-side in the step and also left-side.
The side shelf base and an attachment also fit in the Mercedes Marco Polo. For the Pössl Campster, Crosscamp, VW Crafter, Mercedes Sprinter and others - hack it yourself, see below.
The modular step shelf that grows as you demand it is - typically VANZEIT® - very easy to plug in. The bench remains fully usable.
Even better:
The otherwise inaccessible 12V socket is finally accessible in the form of optional 2x USB connection or 1x 12 Volt connection per shelf. You are free to choose. All 12V sockets with a diameter of 30 mm fit in the recess for them in the base.
Maximum storage space in the entrance!
You can create additional storage space with the side shelf self assembly kit for the sliding door, just as you like and as it suits you.
For example, start with the base on the step tray for flip-flops, add an attachment as a shoe rack for walking shoes, the second for children's books or nappies when driving, ...
Each tier measures approximately 33.6 x 18.8 x 12.15 cm (W x D x H); where W is the width from left to right, T is the depth into the van and H is the height upwards.
The available space between the sliding door and the bench is optimally used by this step shelf in the VW Bus and provides you with the maximum storage space. A dream of storage space and the biggest of its kind!
Up to three tiers of the shelf (one base plus two tops) fit underneath the bench and up to four(!) flush in the sliding door of VW T5, T6 and T6.1.
The sleeping bench in the California Beach, California Ocean and Multivan can thus be moved further and completely independently.
The drawers under the bench remain fully accessible.
Organice It!
The shoe packing cubes by e.g. Cocoon fit perfectly into the step shelf.
So you can pack wet flip flops, dripping wetsuit shoes, dog bowls, ... whatever you want to pack wet, sandy, crumbly without having to think about cleaning the bus afterwards ... safely. safely packed; stalagtite-free.
Safe. Period.
Attach it safely: The towing protection is provided with an expander opposite the ventilation grille by default or the lashing eye in the passenger compartment.
If a 12V connection for USB or similar is used at the socket, the connection additionally secures the step rack.
By campers for campers
Any dirt that may be present under the soles of the shoes falls through the open shelves down into the step tray and can simply be swept off there.
The open shape of the side shelf ensures optimum ventilation for quick drying.
Warm air from the auxiliary heater at the rear is prevented from flowing out as little as possible, unlike with closed and form-fitting alternatives.
Colored graphite grey, the shelf on the step matches both the black and the grey panelling.
At the same time, the sturdy powder coating stands up to everyday use in the camper - practical for everyday use, provenly experienced in camping practice!

You can adapt the modular STECKTWASWEG step shelf diy kit for the step on the sliding door in the VW Bus California, Multivan, etc. exactly to your needs:
The shelf modules
With a single base for the flip-flops and a lot of space on top for a water canister, really thick hams aka reading material, etc.
The unique base fits the sliding door on the passenger side and the driver's side.
With the base and an attachment for the extra pair of shoes in it, there is still plenty of space above for books, mobile phones or even mugs underneath the seat, perfect for our Q-Bus Organicer XL.
With two tops for extra storage space on the shelf and a shelf for the smartphone, right next to the USB charging socket, and reading.
A dream of storage space, the narrow space in the step at the sliding door is used optimally.
The shelf accessories
Optionally available elastic bands keep your mobile phone or tablet on the shelf while charging or a book within reach for browsing while driving.
The black rubber bands are available in the following lengths
1 m - perfect for a single basic shelf
2 m - perfect for a set consisting of a base and an attachment
4 m - for once-under-and-around sets consisting of the basic shelf and two tops.
An optional mounting bracket is available as an add-on. You can attach a tabletop to its holes, for example.
The 9 (nine!) round prongs can be used to hang up things such as a comforter, keys or a hat.
Put it away? Safe! For Safer Stecks aka additional security, there's a rubber. Not for pulling over, but for tightening ... on the rail in the floor of your VW California or Multivan.
Hack It Yourself
We think DIY is good and upcycling is even better.
With our system, you can build and design your step shelf just the way you want it.
The individual levels are firmly screwed together with four M5 screws each.
With the fixed dimensions, you can easily create your own structure.
Place your own floor on the base and off you go.
