That's why camping with VANZEIT is so relaxed.

Our Goal: Travel Simply

when, where, and how we like it.

The suitable solution for the "how" is rarely already finished and even more rarely fixed. Therefore, we first develop fresh camping accessories for ourselves and our VW California.

This is how unique designs are created, which must prove themselves in everyday camping life. On our travels around the world, we drive on roads and off-road.

If the new equipment passes the camping holiday in the VW bus with us, it will be available to you in small, fine series. We produce ourselves with carefully selected partner businesses in our vicinity here in the North and deliver directly to you, without intermediaries.

This way, we can optimize the essentials:
Simple equipment with lots of function for campers.

"The ordinary gives the world its existence, the extraordinary its value."

From pearls in the head to home on the bus

The full story of Stefan ...

Space? A real challenge!

As a third-generation hunter and gatherer, I can fill a space faster than a child can open a closet door to stuff in their toys.

The astonishing thing?

When you empty one room, its contents seem to take up even more space than they initially appeared to occupy.

I learned the art of compressing many things into not-too-large boxes from the ground up.

How come?

One word: Lego.

The little bricks didn't like feet. The path between the door and the bed was off-limits, just like the instruction manual, by the way.

I always needed the building blocks within immediate reach. All of them. If the idea for a new model wanted to take shape from my mind, it had to be ready to go at any time.

So, the myriads of building blocks found their place on the left and right side of the path, and fresh constructions came together like clockwork.

More space for Legos translated into more time for playing.

It led to Lego Technic,

later Fischer Technik,

model building,

and then my first computer, the Commodore AMIGA. Even it didn't have much space... remember floppy disks?

The kids' room remained the same, and everything always fit. The more, the better; it just had to be organized well.

... in a Little Big Bus

From models, we graduated to real cars, and eventually, station wagons.

With two kids, the desire to be able to travel individually and independently grew.

The four of us wanted to go on tour.

First, we looked at motorhomes. The selection was limited for 4 people. Moving those large vehicles in everyday life was not really feasible. The interior reminded us - then and now, in many cases - of family gatherings at grandma and grandpa's...

No.

A "Bulliburg" - five or six buses lined up in a circle with their roofs popped up - at the beach of St. Peter Ording in 2012 was the decisive spark.

The initially selected T4 Exclusive, which some friends of ours had been using for their vacations with four people for a while, was quickly discarded. Even back then, well-used examples were changing owners for their original prices.

No.

As soon as we changed the search to "T5 California," our Calimero - a T5.1 California Comfortline - popped up under my mouse. Appropriately, the pictures of the ad were taken at the beach in SPO... :))

The owners had just bought it and realized that it should be a camper. We gladly made the final decision easier for them ;)

Yes.

California T5 Comfortline - Our Beginning

The "little big bus", our beginning...

In our first season - 2013 - ideas were immediately generated on how to get the maximum vacation experience for four people in the VW bus's tight 3 square meters. The small bus was meant to become big.

The newly discovered products and self-developed solutions for camping with the Bulli were shared in my own blog, under kleinergrosserbus.de - now vanzeit.blog, as a guide for self-converters and DIY enthusiasts.

... bits of Bus Stuff

With the first 3D printer in the house, I was finally able to add the missing coat hook on the passenger side. Simply snapping it into the pop-top roof was my first invention in the world.

The first BUSSTOFF: Calihaken ABHÄNG

The first invention: Calihaken ABHÄNG

The first Calihaken found buyers quickly, and the profession turned into a vocation, with busstoff.de becoming the first manufacturer of camping accessories in additive manufacturing online. The Kleiderhaken ABHÄNG is still the most purchased accessory today and is now manufactured by injection molding.

Customers became manufacturers of van accessories; some even became "hackers," particularly furry comrades formed entire GangX (even with 00708/15 040 and double X) in the valley of the unimaginative... smiley...

Creative ideas didn't decrease for me, nor did the number of my own products created for bus drivers in the online shop.

It became a lot for a "side" business.

In 2021, the profession had to make way.

... and Vanzeit ®

"'Busstoff'? Nobody can pronounce that here. Do you have another name?" The dialogue from one of the first international sales stuck with me.

From too many individual channels on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, the small big bus, and busstoff... VANZEIT ® was born.

The registered trademark is my "hat." Underneath that hat, new originals continue to pop into the bus, now Calimero the second and a California Beach.

We use our Calimero to go on vacation with our own developments, testing them, improving them, and taking them with us again. As the only car, everything has to work in everyday life as well.

And that's why they are so good.

Proven solutions for real problems are created in the camping everyday, creating space in the right place, finely honed between the Baltic Sea and the North Sea and in the fresh air.

More space indoors.

More time outdoors.

With Family

We'd rather enjoy all the stars under the open sky than one in a hotel.

Move to live.

It's not just found on the Bulli,

I like to ask myself these questions at the end of the day:

Have I lived?

Where is the love?

What have I moved?

Are you in too?
